Melinda Taylor Boyd attended the 2011 Nance Family 4-H Meat Goat Leadership Institute held at N.C. State University in Raleigh on Feb. 26. The institute, established by the Billy Nance family in 2010, is designed to equip young people with the tools necessary to become effective leaders. Boyd was chosen to be a member of the initial 2010 class and was invited to expand her knowledge at the 2011 institute. Youth are challenged to take the skills acquired at the event and put them into action at county, state and national levels.

Boyd is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry G. Boyd of Pinetown and is a sophomore at Terra Ceia Christian School.
