Thelma H. Kirkley

Mrs. Thelma Harris Kirkley, 78, a resident of 609 Wilson St., Washington, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Beaufort County Medical Center.
A graveside funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Ray West.
Mrs. Kirkley was born in Pitt County on Aug. 30, 1932, the daughter of the late Bonnie Lee Harris and the late Eula Waters Harris. She was a graduate of Washington High School and worked until her retirement with Flowers Bakery, now known as Sunbeam Bakery. She was a member of First Church of Christ of Washington.
Survivors include two sons: Beecher E. Kirkley and his wife, Lee Ann, of Hayes, Va., and Gary Lee Kirkley of Washington; two sisters: Velma Lane of Washington and Melva Ledwell of Charlotte; a brother: Elvin Harris of Greenville and four grandchildren: Joseph Kirkley, Joseph Dusewicz, John Dusewicz and Mathew Dusewicz. Mrs. Kirkley was preceded in death by a brother: Delma Harris.
Mrs. Kirkley’s family would like to thank Velma Lane for her care and concern shown to her sister up to and through her last days.
