Mr. Burnes Spencer, 87, of 2222 Back Road, Creswell, died Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Washington County Hospital.
A funeral will be held at noon Friday at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Lee Ernest Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Lee cemetery.
Mr. Spencer was born on June 22, 1923, in Tyrrell County. He was the son of the late Thad and Etta Gibbs Spencer. He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church serving as a deacon. He was married to the late Bishop Edna Spencer. He was a retired forklift operator with Weyerhaeuser.
Survivors include three daughters: Edna B. Hart, Clayton, Judy S. Smith, Plymouth, Dorothy B. Swain, Clayton; two brothers: Harvey Spencer, Cambridge, Md., Charles Spencer, Washington, D.C.: sister: Marie Sorey, Newark, N.J.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Bethel Pentecoastal Holiness Church.
