The Northeast District 4-H in North Carolina is offering the Science Biotechnology Investigate Academy from Aug. 2-4.

It is open to all rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.

During the three-day event, campers will become crime scene investigators and conduct biotechnology experiments, while questioning suspects in order to solve the mystery. Campers will witness how modern-day crime scenes are analyzed and how crimes are solved. The academy will be held at N.C. Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount.

The Beaufort County Cooperative Extension Center has six spaces for campers available. The camp costs $50 a person. The fee covers lodging, meals, activities, instruction and limited insurance.

Camp registration is done on a first-come, first-served basis, with a registration deadline of June 1. Jennifer Hawkins, a summer intern and a recent graduate of East Carolina University, will accompany the six Beaufort County campers.

For more information on how to register, contact Louise Hinsley or Erin Massie, CES agents for 4-H youth development, at 252-946-0111.
