I don’t think that children need to have to pay to play ball with the City of Washington Recreation Department. If the city can give away money to the Turnage, the waterfront and other things, then it can give it to the children to play ball.

To the county residents complaining about the 5-percent reduction in residential electric rates for Washington Electric Utilities customers inside the city: You could always ask to be annexed and pay city property taxes that provide you with all the things you enjoy by living close to, but not in, the city.

Has the city consulted with the Local Government Commission before it proceeds with separate in-town and outside of town electric rates, without any recorded financial basis?

Thank you to the people or organization that put the flags in the cemeteries for the holiday. It looks beautiful.

To the person who thinks childhood education needs to be left to the parents: It would mean we would all home school our children without any tax dollars. Do you really think all parents are equipped to teach their children all they need to know? My tax dollars are better spent on early and all education than on incarceration later, with a lot of the uneducated who have lost their hope of anything better. Did you pay for any of the education you received or did someone else’s tax dollars pay for most of it?
