Memorial Day weekend marked the beginning of boating season in Beaufort County. Last fall, upstream from the Clark’s Neck bridge, there were wildlife buoys or markers installed in a blind curve on Tranter’s Creek to prevent accidents from occurring. Since last fall, I guess most people assume that these were placed by property owners and not the state. They are wrong. The state placed these markers. However, I don’t know where the wildlife officers are, because I live in the middle of this no-wake zone and approximately 30 percent to 40 percent of boaters do not pay attention. I have not seen the first citation. Please boaters, slow down, before an accident occurs.
Did I miss something? I don’t remember seeing the part where UHS said their bid to take over our hospital was contingent on their obtaining financing.
To the city resident who called in about the county resident complaining: I don’t want to be annexed into the city and I don’t want to pay the city anything and they sure can’t provide me with all the things that I enjoy by living close or in the city. So, let the city to the best they can.
Please tell me what FIFA stands for. There is a front page article in the Saturday edition, continued on page 3A. Obviously it is something about soccer but it doesn’t say anything about what FIFA stands for. I am amazed. Editor’s Note: Federation Internationale de Football Association. With headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, FIFA is the international governing body of association football (soccer).
Let’s talk about unlawful golf carts on state highways with no license and no insurance being operated by small children, teenagers and adults with open containers of alcohol. This is a recipe for disaster. It is all over Beaufort County.
I will not be getting a 5% reduction on my electric rate. I am a county resident on a well/septic tank and pay for my trash collection. I am not able to participate in city water/sewer or trash collection. I do get to support the shops in Washington. This is all I get to enjoy “free” as you say.
