Mr. Arthur Jackson “A.J.” Wallace Jr., age 84, a resident of 2224 Wharton Station Road, Washington, N.C., died Saturday, June 25, 2011, at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens of Washington officiated by the Rev. Joan Fischer. Members of the Masonic Lodge will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Wallace, Tony Brown, Danny Wallace, Danny Boyd, Michael Shepard and Johnny Moore.
Mr. A.J. was born in Beaufort County on July 31, 1926, son of the late Arthur J. Wallace Sr. and the late Bessie Jefferson Wallace. He married the former Abbie Virginia Tucker on Dec. 25, 1947, who survives. Mr. A.J. served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. He was owner and operator of Seaboard Supply Company of Washington, a member of Masonic Orr Lodge # 104 and a member of Pactolus Baptist Church.
Surviving along with Mr. A.J.’s wife, Abbie T. Wallace, is a son: Jack Wallace and his wife Gail of Washington; a daughter: Pam W. Gray and her husband Ervin of Grifton: a brother: Dan Wallace of Washington; a sister: Tillie Moore of Washington; two grandchildren: Buffy Moore and Heather Brown and four great-grandchildren: Abigail Moore, Robin Moore, Autumn Brown and Toni Lynn Brown. Mr. A.J. was preceded in death by a brother: Cecil Wallace.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of Mr. A.J.’s son, Jack Wallace, located at 2192 Wharton Station Road, Washington, NC 27889.
