I appreciated Jonathan Clayborne’s article “When will the rubber meet the road?” But something did not add up. The contractor is late on its contract and there is a cost overrun. Shouldn’t the contractor be docked for not meeting its contract? Jonathan, please help us understand the logic.
I wonder why Wendy’s is the only restaurant listed on the green state-erected signs on U.S. Highway 17.
I just wanted to clarify something in Tuesday’s paper about the Fourth of July celebration. The stuff about Belhaven: the mud run is put on by the Pantego Volunteer Fire Department. Pungo River Volunteer Fire Department did help us, and Ponzer Volunteer Fire Department did the concessions.
Boo-hoo to the inconvenienced few too lazy to drive an entire block out of their way. Spend the money somewhere else, and give the Brown Street bridge to the geese.
I’m glad the crime rate is so low in Washington that the police have time to sit in Smallwood and write speeding tickets.
