State Rep. Bill Cook, R-Beaufort, has confirmed that a new redistricting plan scheduled for release today would keep Beaufort County whole in one state House district.
A previously released plan would have carved most of the city of Washington out of the county and placed it in a district rooted in western Pitt County.
In response to concerns from his constituents, Cook advocated in Raleigh for a new plan that would keep Beaufort County whole in one House district.
Cook is a member of the House redistricting committee.
