Ferraba K. Clark

Mrs. Ferraba Sutherland “Kelly” Clark, age 68, a resident of 115 Beech Lane, Washington, N.C., died Friday, July 15, 2011, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at First Church of Christ of Washington officiated by Ray West, Steve Hill and Ethan Coltrain. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Mrs. Clark’s grandson Derek Saunders and deacons of First Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Clark was born in Mt. Crawford, Va., on July 25, 1942, daughter of the late Charles Otis Sutherland and the late Alice Marie Blackwell Sutherland. She was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School in Fisherville, Va. Mrs. Clark married James Robert Kelley on Oct. 13, 1971, who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1999. She later married Paul A. Clark, Jr. on July 2, 2005, who survives. Mrs. Clark was a waitress who had worked in Roanoke, Va., and locally at Blackbeard’s Restaurant and Hog Heaven. She was a member of First Church of Christ and a member of its adult Sunday School class.

Surviving along with Mrs. Clark’s husband Paul of the home are five daughters: Teresa Stephens of Virginia Beach, Tamera Dulin and Darlene Brown, both of Roanoke, Va., Debra Wilson of Martinsville, Va., and Stephanie Cherry of Greenville, N.C.; three stepdaughters: Sharon Woolard of Washington, Connie Benson of Pantego and Cheryl Reed of Chocowinity; two stepsons: Paul A. Clark III of Chocowinity and Charles T. Clark of Bath; three brothers: Otis Sutherland and Avis Sutherland, both of Danville, Va., and Ernest Sutherland of New Hope, Va.; two sisters: Sarah Cash of Stanton, Va., and Polly Caricofe of New Hope, Va.; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
