Wedding: Younger-Meier

Virginia Evans Younger and Douglas William Meier were married Saturday, July 16, 2011, at half after five o’clock in the First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro. The Reverend Neil Wayne Dunnavant officiated. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Greensboro Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wright Koonce of Greensboro, North Carolina, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Carlton Younger, Jr. of Kinston, North Carolina. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Thomas Carlton Younger and the late Mr. Younger of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Melton Earl Evans of Washington, North Carolina. The bride graduated from Greensboro Day School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin. She was presented by the Greensboro Symphony Guild and the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh, North Carolina. She is an attorney with Hogan Lovells in Washington, D.C.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard William Meier of Port Orange, Florida. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ralph James Steward and the late Mr. Steward of St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. Lowell William Meier of Wentzville, Missouri, and the late Mary Louise Meier of Wentzville, Missouri. 0He graduated from Lee’s Summit North High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin. He is an attorney with Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner in Washington, D.C.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. The matron of honor was Heidi Hundley Stabler of Brooklyn, New York. Bridesmaids were Ramsay Williams Younger, sister-in-law of the bride, of Raleigh, North Carolina; Megan Amelia Anderson and Melissa Scott Gilbert, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; Katharine Watts Hutchison of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; and Marilyn Carlson Rush of Wilmington, North Carolina.
The groom chose Phillip Andrew Hammond of Houston, Texas, as best man. Groomsmen were Thomas Carlton Younger III, brother of the bride, of Raleigh; George Edward Hinchey of San Antonio, Texas; David Michael Anderson, Kevin George Moorman, and Casey Michael Wendelburg, all of Houston, Texas; and Travis Judson Wofford of New York, New York. Ushers were Robert Fuller Parham of Richmond, Virginia, and Sumner Malone Parham III, of Morehead City, North Carolina., stepbrothers of the bride; Joseph William Des Rosier of Aurora, Colorado; and Christopher John Demmeck of Houston, Texas. Thomas Grayson Younger of Raleigh, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.
Program and registry attendants were Channing Marie Koonce, stepsister of the bride, of Greensboro; Katherine Doty Hanniford of Washington, D.C.; Lorraine Graw Sarles of Los Angeles, California; and Mahshad Vakili of Austin, Texas.
After their honeymoon, the couple will make their home in Washington, D. C.
