No pay for clowns

To the Editor:

Those clowns we call Congress have done it again. They keep playing with the country’s budget.

In the 1960s, we moved the beginning of the federal fiscal year from July 1 to Oct. 1 so they could have enough time to fund the nation’s budget needs. It is now April (July-October) and they have not fully completed the job.

How about a new approach? Congress and other elected officials do not get paid until all federal budget bills have been passed. No pay, no perks, no salary for staff. (Retroactive for the FY year.) Or as slightly less extreme, new Congress members would get 1/6 of their Salary, and those members of Congress who are millionaires (since most become millionaires after a few years in Congress, what a surprise?) get no pay.

If this was to happen, which it will not, they would have to vote on it. Those clowns need a kick in the butt and to forget their political views and get the needs of the public done. Who of you could live on a program where you are not sure of what your next check would be? They almost closed the government! It worked in one state.
