On Friday, investigators with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office’s drug unit arrested Ashton Maurice Jones, 27, of Washington. Jones’ arrest stemmed from investigators conducting undercover controlled purchases of Mephedrone, a white, powdery substance often referred to as “bath salt.”
When arrested, Jones was found to be in possession of “bath salt” in his hotel room at the Days Inn in Washington, according to the sheriff’s office. Jones was charged with three counts of possession with intent to sell and deliver Mephedrone and felony possession of Mephedrone.
Jones was confined in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
