Charles Evans was promoted to senior vice president of East Carolina Bank’s commercial banking division.

“Charles joined ECB last year, bringing with him nearly 25 years of banking experience in roles of increasing responsibility in commercial lending and commercial banking,” said Jim Burson, ECB’s executive vice president and chief revenue officer. “Since then, he has demonstrated an understanding of ECB’s unique vision and served our bank and our customers well. We look forward to his leadership in this key position.”

Evans joined ECB in August 2010 as vice president and business development officer at the Southern Shores office. He began his banking career in 1986 with Wachovia and later joined BB&T where he served as a commercial banker in Elizabeth City. He then joined RBC Bank, where he served as commercial banking relationship manager for the Outer Banks, prior to joining ECB.

“We are in a changing economic climate that makes banking more interesting each day,” Evans shared. “I look forward to the challenges of day-to-day management of the commercial banking division and to incorporating the sales and service activities that will drive high quality loan, deposit, and service across ECB’s footprint. ECB has a ‘team approach’ that I believe strengthens everything we do, and our focus is on providing financial solutions to our customers even in a difficult economy. ECB’s history of service is incredible and I am pleased to be part of it.”

Evans is a graduate of Barton College in Wilson, where he received his BS in business administration with a minor in marketing. He is an ambassador for the Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, a past member of the Kitty Hawk Rotary and past treasurer of the Dare County Arts Council.
