Beaufort County Schools News Release
Danny Reed with the Beaufort County Schools’ transportation department took top honors once again as the best bus inspector in the state during the recent North Carolina Pupil Transportation Association’s annual conference in Asheville.
Reed placed ahead of 11 other finalists who inspected previously “rigged” buses on a hot day.
The win comes on the heels of an increase in the difficulty of problems laid out for competing inspectors in the written and hands-on portions of the event.
“Danny is a very strong member of our team. He has a sharp eye for discrepancies and has memorized the rule book inside and out,” said Jerry Wynne, director of transportation for Beaufort County Schools.
Reed will once again represent North Carolina at the NAPT competition in San Antonio Texas, where he will try for his second national championship. In 2007, Reed won the national contest held in Peoria, Ill. He placed third nationally last year at the event held in Jasper, Ind.
“We are very proud of Danny Reed and his accomplishments,” said John Conway, assistant superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. “He is a great example of the quality and talent we are fortunate to have in our transportation department.
He will once again represent us well.”
