To the Editor:

I was very pleased to see the very professional, comprehensive, and timely Washington City Council information published on page 5A of Friday’s WDN. I hope it continues, and I especially hope our Beaufort County commissioners follow suit with similar information on Beaufort County commissioner meeting agendas at least the Friday before commissioner and county board meetings. This transparency and eagerness to welcome and encourage community participation reflects the Washington city government’s commitment to their constituents, a commitment and welcome that I believe has been lacking in our county commissioners’ business activities.

Publishing detailed agendas well ahead of the meetings encourages county residents to attend meetings and present their opinions and information on those topics of specific interest to them. Opinions and information that may be very valuable to our elected commissioners in their decision making.
