Father of the groom, Roger Lee Winstead, was the Best Man. Groomsmen included brother of the bride, Linton Blade Thompson of Macon, Georgia, brother of the groom, Justin Mayo Winstead of Bath, and friends of the groom Andrew Justin McCarthy III of Littleton, Massachusetts, Jason Joseph Morrisey of Columbia, Maryland, Jordan Farrell Olshefski, and Timothy Bradford Severs, both of Charlotte.
Laura Knutson McDermott of Charlotte and Captain Taylor Andrew Prince of Richmond, Virginia, both friends of the bride and groom, read Scripture and a special prayer during the ceremony. Cousin of the bride, Marilee Kay Greene of Springfield, Virginia was the vocalist and was accompanied by harpist Merrie Beth Spooner Eubanks of Arlington. Program attendants included Katie Lauren Moody of Charlotte and Kathleen Anne Crawford Greene of Richmond, both cousins of the bride. The guestbook was attended by friend of the bride Sarah Elizabeth Peters of Macon.
The bride wore the wedding gown her Mother wore in 1974. The ivory Priscilla of Boston gown was redesigned and restored for Haley by Chris Hudson Couture of Madison, Georgia. The original A-line silk organza and English Net gown with a high Victorian neckline, empire waist, and long sleeves was appliquéd with Alençon lace and bordered with embroidery lace. The high neck was lowered into a lovely scoop neck front and back, and the long sleeves were removed. More French sequined Alençon lace was added to create length and sparkle. Tiny quarter inch buttons adorned the back. The lovely silk organza dress with Chapel train looked very modern with its new additions. Haley also wore the original long illusion veil, bordered in matching Alençon lace, worn by her Mother in 1974.
Prior to the wedding, the bride and groom were entertained with events in Blakely, Arlington, Albany, St. Simons Island, and Atlanta, Georgia, as well as in Charleston, South Carolina and Charlotte and Bath, North Carolina. The couple resides in Charlotte and will honeymoon in southern Italy.
