To the Editor:

One of my professors at ECU talked frequently about how community action, especially from the electorate, really works.

Those of us who took part in the effort to bring about the merger between BCMC and UHS have proved this to be true. The January rally attendance at county commissioners meetings and hospital board meetings, petitions, etc., were very instrumental in overcoming the takeover of our hospital by out of state for profit entities.

Pat yourselves on the back, county citizens. We did it! We spoke and were listened to in the end.
