Trio charged in battery heist

On July 2, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering of motor vehicles and larceny at a farm on Respess Road, Pinetown. The victim reported batteries were stolen from several farm vehicles. On July 12, the sheriff’s office received a report of a breaking and entering of motor vehicles and larceny at a farm on Wharton Station Road, Washington. The victim reported batteries were stolen from several farm vehicles.
During an investigation, investigators learned similar incidents occurred in Pitt County. Pitt County investigators discovered the stolen batteries were sold at a Greenville business.
On Friday, Investigator Wesley Waters obtained warrants charging Jeremy Wilson Holland, 21, of Terrapin Track Road, Washington, with 13 counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, one count of breaking or entering a boat, 13 counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of attempted misdemeanor larceny for both thefts; Ramsey Willis Covington, 19, of Old Creek Road, Greenville, with 10 counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, one count of breaking or entering a boat, 10 counts of misdemeanor larceny and one count of attempted misdemeanor larceny for the theft on Respess Road; and Hunter Reid Holley, 17, of Cherry Road, Washington, with three counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle and three counts of misdemeanor larceny for the theft on Wharton Station Road.
On Friday, Holland and Holley surrendered at the magistrates’ office in Beaufort County. Holland was held under a $40,000 secured bond and Holley was held under a $10,000 secured bond.
Covington turned himself in at the Pitt County magistrates’ office, where he was released under a $15,000 unsecured bond.
