The first appointments to the eight-member directors council of Beaufort Hospital in Washington are on the agenda of the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners when it meets Monday night. The commissioners can nominate two members to the council, whose members will advise the East Carolina Health Board of Directors in the operations of the Washington hospital including issues affecting quality of care and recommended new programs and services. Their appointments are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of University Health System, according to information provided to the commissioners. Members of Beaufort Regional Health System’s governing boards are not eligible to serve on the council, the commissioners have been told. Once the commissioners make their appointments, UHS will name the remaining board members, the commissioners were told.
