Edna Marie Williams Lewis

Edna Marie Williams Lewis left her worldly home Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Cross Creek Health Care facility. She was born to Miranda John Brinn and Cecil Norwood Williams on Oct. 30, 1920, at the Williams home place on North Lake Road. She married Wilbur Leigh Lewis Sr. on Feb. 25, 1944, who survives at home.
She was a lifetime active member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, and the Ladies Aide group for as long as her health allowed. Her life was her family and her church family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Cecil Lamar, on April 19, 2004, and an infant brother, Hubert, Cecil Orville and Ashley Duane “Shorty” Williams; her sisters, Beulah Mae W. Mooney, Margaret Estelle W. Gibbs, Hazel Louise W. Sawyer, Amelia “Sugar” Milligan W. Pledger.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law: Dean and Faye, Hubert Sr. and Ann, Ronnie and Nancy, Wilbur Leigh “W.L.” Lewis Jr. and Janet, Austin and Tracy; and one daughter and son-in-law, Edna Merita Lewis-Spencer and David.
She has 13 grandchildren: Kim Hicks, Susan Williams, Jody Lewis, Denise Cox, Hubert Lewis Jr., Rhonda Topping, Dawn Lewis, Corey Spencer, Brandon Lewis, Ray Lewis Jr., Jacob, Alex and Taylor Lewis.
She has 12 great-grandchildren: Tiernan Grace Hicks, Scarlet Miranda and Holden Reese Williams, twins Cailin Elizabeth and Joseph Cicotti Lewis, Travis and Emily Cox, Kyleigh Danielle, Ethan Cole, Adam Tyler Lewis, Cloey Elaine and Ronnie Malachi Topping.
Special thanks to her home health care givers, Jessica, Lola, Daria, the Hyde County Hospice Staff, the chore workers, Cross Creek staff while Mother was in your care. Each in your own ways were indeed God sent blessings an you know who you are. God, Our Father, placed each of you in our lives in His right timing. THANK YOU!
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Lewis family plot at Fulford Cemetery. Fellowship at the home will follow the cemetery service. All are welcome.
