On Jan. 25, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual offense that occurred at a residence on Fire Tower Lane in Pinetown.

As a result of an investigation, Investigator Wesley obtained warrants charging Brett Allan Leverton, 37, formerly of Fire Tower Lane, Pinetown, with one count of statutory rape/sex offense of a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is at least six years older than the victim and one count of incest.

On Oct. 17, Leverton was arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office in Taylor, Mich. Leverton was extradited to Beaufort County on Thursday and held on a $50,000 secured bond. On Monday, Leverton was served in the Beaufort County Detention Center with additional charges handed down by a Beaufort County grand jury. Those charges include two counts of incest, three counts of incest with a child who is 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is at least six years older than the victim and three counts of statutory rape/sex offense of a person who is 13, 14, or 15 years old by a defendant who is at least six years older than the victim. He was held on an additional $50,000 secured bond.
