Berry charged, May sought

On Aug. 21, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering and larceny at a residence on Bennett Road, Chocowinity. The victim reported several items, including a firearm and vehicle, stolen from the residence.

As a result of an investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore obtained warrants charging Stoney Berry, 20, of N.C. Highway 33 in Grimesland, and Brian May Jr., 19, of Worthington Warren Road, Greenville, each with one count of felony breaking and entering, one count of felony larceny, one count of larceny of a firearm and one count of larceny of a motor vehicle.

Berry was served with the warrants Wednesday in the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he was being held on unrelated charges. He was placed under an additional $2,000 secured bond.

May remains a wanted person.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of May should call Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at 252-974-6400. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. Callers do not have to give their names to receive rewards.
