Hit-and-run claims life

Authorities are searching for an SUV involved in a fatal hit-and-run Monday that resulted in the death of Wanda Ore, 41, of Chocowinity.
Ore was struck by a Ford van about 5:45 p.m. on Mill Road about a mile from her home, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol. As Ore lay in the road, she was struck by a dark SUV that left the scene of the accident, according to First Sgt. B.L. Craft. Investigating troopers believe the SUV may have suffered damage to its lower front end.
The driver of the van will not face changes, according to the Highway Patrol.
