Jo Anne E. Hodges

Mrs. Jo Anne Elks Hodges, age 73, a resident of 5584 U.S. Highway 17 N., Washington, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at UHS–Beaufort Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Oakdale Cemetery conducted by Eddie Bowen.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Beaufort County on June 5, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Isaac William Elks and Marjorie Mae Clark Elks. Mrs. Hodges was a retired textile worker. She was a member of the Old Ford Church of Christ. Mrs. Hodges loved to read and make homemade jewelry in her spare time.
On March 13, 1970, she married Milton E. Hodges, who survives.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Robin K. Baker of Washington, and Donna H. Ray of Conroe, Texas; two sons, David A. Keel of Washington, Milton E. Hodges Jr. of Timberlake; four sisters, Eva E. Davis and Betty Lou E. Cutler, both of Washington, Linda E. Tetterton of Bath, Marlene E. Ingalls of Missouri; three brothers, A. Leroy Elks of Chocowinity, Freddie L. Elks of Vanceboro, David D. Elks of Wake Forest; sister-in-law, Virginia Elks of Chocowinity and seven grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jennifer Louise Tyndall and David Scott Keel; and a brother, William E. Elks.
The family will receive friends at the home.
