Hugh Linwood “Buddy” Gibbs Jr., 61, of 464 Lazy Lane, Engelhard, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at home.

Born Oct. 19, 1950, he was the son of the late Hugh L. Gibbs Sr. and Mildred Mason Gibbs, he was married to Lois Ange Gibbs who preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church and of the Atlantic Lodge A.F.& A.M. #294. Buddy loved to fish, hunt, ride his Harley Davidson and spend time with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at the family plot in the Brooks family cemetery, Scott Sukeforth and George Merrick will officiate.

Surviving are two sons, Linwood Gibbs III of Garner and Kevin B. Gibbs of Greenville; a daughter, Shannon G. Mooney of Ponzer; two stepsons, Gino Gasparrini and Paul Gasparrini; a stepdaughter Lori G. Fijal, all of Massachusetts; two sisters, Katherine Gibbs and friend Randy Schmidt of Gull Rock; Carol G. Harris of Engelhard; seven grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angel S. Gibbs.
