Joseph W. “Joey” Bright Jr.

Mr. Joseph Wayne “Joey” Bright Jr., age 41, a resident of Elkin and formerly of Washington, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Wake Forest Baptist Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington, conducted by Dennis R. Davis and Billy Ray Askew.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, at Everett’s Crossroads Church of Christ and other times at the home of his sister, Amanda Bright.

Joey was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 27, 1970. He was the son of Joseph Wayne “Joe” Bright Sr. and the late Bettie Cherry Bright. Joey was a truck mechanic. He graduated from Bath High School in 1988. Joey was a member of the Boy Scouts and had served as assistant Scout Master. He was a member of the Eastern Antique Power Association and the New Home Church of Christ in Dobson, N.C.

Joey is survived by his father, Joseph Wayne “Joe” Bright Sr. of Elkin; his sister, Amanda Leigh Bright of Washington; his paternal grandmother, Etta B. Bright of Washington; and several aunts and uncles.
