Mary Louise Hodges Jones

Mrs. Mary Louise Hodges Jones, 82, a resident of 127 Jones Way Road, Chocowinity, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at UHS–Beaufort Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington, conducted by Earl Edwards Jr. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. A.J. Middleton, Thurman Braxton, David Braxton, Ronnie Hudson, Bennie Cox, Ed Ward, Tommy Smith and Plummie Norris Jr. will serve as pallbearers. Robert Jones and Earl Edwards Sr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mary Louise Hodges Jones

Mrs. Jones was born in Beaufort County on April 5, 1929, to the late Lonnie Guy Hodges and Lou Rachel Taylor Hodges. In 1945, she married Ray Leon Jones, who preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1970. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and loved to cook. She loved her family and loved reading her Bible. Mrs. Jones was a missionary to those around her in need. She was a member of Life Gate Missionary Baptist Church of Chicod.

Mrs. Jones is survived by a son, Elwyn Ray Jones and wife Mary of Chocowinity; two grandsons, Bennie Ray Jones and wife Bonnie, and William Leon Jones and wife Tracey, all of Chocowinity; a great–grandson, James Ray Jones of Chocowinity; and a sister, Polly Hudson Lewis of Chocowinity.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Hodges and Burien Hodges; and a sister, Agnes Upton Whitley.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. tonight at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home of her son, 155 Jones Way Road, Chocowinity.
