Ronald Ray Alligood Sr.

Mr. Ronald Ray Alligood Sr., 66, a resident of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at his home. He was born Oct. 28, 1945, in Beaufort County, the son of the late James Daniel and Ruth Asby Alligood. He was a wonderful father, a proud and loving grandfather, and a friend and gentleman to everyone.

Mr. Alligood was an avid fisherman and looked forward to his trips to Atlantic Beach with family and friends. He was a hard worker, taking pride in everything he did. He was retired from Alliance Display and Packaging. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Linda Mills Pyle and his brother, Harold Alligood.

Survivors include one son, Ron Alligood and wife Dianne of Mt. Airy; four grandchildren, Grace, Melody, Cheyenne and Mackenzie; a stepdaughter, Diane Taylor; two brothers, Melvin Alligood and Donald Alligood; five sisters, Viva Watson, Linda Alligood, Kay Latham, Faye Alligood and Sandie Alligood; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Vogler officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
