The Washington Police Department is investigating an unattended death that occurred the morning of Jan. 1.

Around 8:30 a.m., officers responded to Hampton Inn, 2085 W. Fifth St., where they discovered Christina Ball Sutton, 29, of Deer Tract Drive, unresponsive, according to a news release issued by the department. Sutton was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

All unattended deaths are investigated thoroughly until the department is satisfied with the cause of the death, according to the release.

“No further details of the investigation can be released at this time,” reads the release.
