Ann George Litchfield Valis

Mrs. Ann George Litchfield Valis of Charlotte, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012, with members of her family and friends at her bedside. She had recently moved to Wilora Lake Lodge from her Holborrk Drive home.
She was the devoted wife of Stanley Frank Valis, who predeceased her in 1994.
Ann George was born in Aurora on Oct. 17, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Harry Bonner Litchfield Sr. and Angie Leary Litchfield.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Harry Bonner Litchfield Jr.
Ann and Stanley spent time both in Aurora and Charlotte, the greater South, and compass points around the globe. They enjoyed traveling and made themselves at home on the road.
Ann is survived by a nephew, Harry Bonner Litchfield III and wife Meg of Concord; and a niece, Laura Litchfield Van Meter and husband Allen of Lincolnton.
Other survivors include a great-niece, Elizabeth Van Meter and a great-nephew, Ashley Van Meter, also of Lincolnton; her sister-in-law, Doris Allen Litchfield of Raleigh; many cousins, and a host of lifelong friends, many of whom thought of Ann as family.
She was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Aurora and a lifelong Episcopalian.
A service of memory will be held in Aurora on Saturday at the Church of the Holy Cross. The time of the service will be announced in Friday’s edition of the Washington Daily News. Burial will follow in High Hill Cemetery in Aurora.
A memorial service will be held in Charlotte at a later date.
