Melba C. Housley, Nov. 20, 1933 – Jan. 13, 2012

Mrs. Melba Chauncey Housley, age 78, a resident of 525 E. Second St., Washington, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at home.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakdale Cemetery officiated by Eddie Bowen. Steve Chauncey, Thomas Rogers, Kirby Ballance, Doug Otts, Kenny Clifton, Glenn Mercer, Eddie Squires and Eddie Sheppard will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Housley was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 20, 1933, daughter of the late Jay Chauncey and Cassie Chesson Chauncey. On May 22, 1950, she married Jessie Manuel Housley, who survives. She was a homemaker, a Shrine Lady, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Old Ford Church of Christ.
In addition to her husband, Manuel of the home, she is survived by her son, Douglas Manuel Housley and wife Sharon of Chocowinity; double cousin, Steve Chauncey; loving cousin, Joyce Ann Seavey; step-granddaughter, Tania Harris; step-grandson, Wayne Harris; goddaughter, Linda Morgan Clifton; and goddaughter, Joyce Morgan Bell.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. tonight at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington and other times at the home.
