Richard F. Fitzgerald Jr.

Richard F. Fitzgerald Jr., age 72, a resident of Chocowinity, passed suddenly on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012.

Born Oct. 7, 1939, he was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and Villanova University.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Rose C. Fitzgerald; his three sons, Daniel, Peter, and Richard, and four grandchildren Caroline, Connor, Richard, and Sean and his sister Anne Fitzgerald. Retired since 2004, Dick was a human resources executive from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania who worked at the Sun Oil Company, Renal Treatment Centers, and IFM Efector.

Celebration of Dick’s life will be held on at 11 a.m. Friday at Mother of Mercy Catholic Church, Washington. A reception will follow the service at Cypress Landing Bay Club in Chocowinity. Interment will be at St. Dennis Cemetery in Havertown, Pa., at a date to be announced later this year, through the Donahue Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations in Dick’s name be made to one of the following: Mother of Mercy Catholic Church; Fisher House that supports our military families; or Cypress Landing Golf Club’s Adopt a Tree Program, POC Brenda Jackson, cigcbuisiness@cypresslandinggolf.com.
