Arrest made in stabbing

A Williamston man, Brandon Earl Wynne, faces a charge of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the aftermath of stabbing Wednesday.
Wynne, of 1797 Prison Camp Road, Williamston, was charged in the stabbing of Edward C. Linton of Williamston. Wynne was placed in the Bertie-Martin Regional Jail. His bond was set at $50,000. A court date was set for Feb. 8.
About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 3151 Bailey Road in Williamston regarding a stabbing. Deputies spoke with the victim, who had a stab wound on the left side of his chest and was bleeding profusely. Linton was transported to Martin General Hospital by Williamston Rescue. Later, he was airlifted by EastCare to Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Linton remained hospitalized Thursday.
An investigation identified a suspect and the vehicle being used by the suspect. That vehicle was stopped in Pitt County by deputies with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was transported to Martin County.
In a press release issued Thursday morning, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said no motive for the stabbing had been established.
