Johnson arrested after chase

On Jan. 19, 2012, deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 19000 block of Highway 32 North in Pinetown, in reference to a domestic assault. After learning neither party wished to pursue charges, the non-resident subject was told to leave the property. After getting into her vehicle to leave, the subject began damaging the yard by spinning tires in circle patterns with her vehicle. The subject then left the property traveling at a high rate of speed in a reckless manner on Highway 32. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued south on Highway 32 at speeds estimated near 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of Highway 32 and Ripp Highway and struck a portion of the railroad tracks. The vehicle was disabled and Deputies arrested Audra Boyd Johnson, 34, of Long Ridge Road in Pinetown. Johnson was transported to the Magistrate’s Office where she was charged with one count of felony speeding to elude arrest, careless and reckless driving, speeding, injury to real property, and resist, delay, or obstruct an officer. Johnson was brought before Magistrate Holmes and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center on an $18,000 secured bond.
