Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

I heard a rumor that the lawsuit by a town resident against the Town of Belhaven over a downtown sewer connection had been settled. Since there has been no public news from the mayor or Town Council, I assume the town lost the lawsuit. Letting the lawsuit happen in the first place was a dumb act by the town administration. This lawsuit probably cost Belhaven citizens thousands of dollars when the problem could have been corrected initially for several hundred dollars.

I want to thank Harvest Church for hosting the Culture Shock event this past Saturday. The music was awesome, but the messages delivered were even better.

The last time I ate in restaurants downtown, shopped downtown, it happened to be seniors doing the shopping and the eating in the establishments, not young people. So, that was a totally ludicrous statement concerning seniors.

Why not show a little love and kindness instead of trying to make other people’s lives miserable? This so-called junkyard is a part of the man’s livelihood. Why don’t you take a stroll through there one day? You might find things that make you smile instead of complain. People riding by can only say this man has chosen a unique profession. Other towns have these, and some people drive long distances just to explore them. Some of us realize it’s a job and he’s not collecting welfare.

Concerning the so-called junkyard: My wife purchased a used mower and metal-blade fan this summer. They work great and didn’t cost a fortune either.
