Mr. George Russell Moores, 61, a resident of Greenville, passed from this life on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center.

The funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service.

Mr. Moores, a native of Durham, was a graduate of Durham High School.  He was employed with Watson Electric Company in 1968, transferring to Wilson in 1975 and to Greenville in 1977, where he was project manager. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Ayden Country Club.  Mr. Moores loved his family, and was well loved and respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Lorene Tate Moores; stepsons, Dallas Ray Ormond Jr. and wife Tlena of Mebane, and George T. Ormond Sr. and wife Amy of Bath; grandchildren, Corey Ray Ormond, Ashley Ormond, T.J. Ormond, and Kaitlyn Ormond; mother, Veleria Moores, of Roxboro; sisters, Barbara Cates and husband Johnnie of Bahama, Sandra Pierce, and Betty Michael and husband Curtis, all of Roxboro; and several nieces and nephews.
