Thomas “Bruce” Mayo

Thomas “Bruce” Mayo, age 65, a resident of Purcellville, Va., died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Heritage Hall.  Born on April 8, 1946, in North Carolina, he was the son of the late Jesse and Effie Mayo. Bruce loved his career as a disc jockey and was known as Eric O’Day on the radio.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Michelle Mayo; a brother, Troy Mayo; and sister, Helen Harris. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Margaret Mayo of Purcellville; stepdaughter, Davida Cox Burkhammer of Stafford, Va.; one grandchild, Jared Burkhammer; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hollywood Cemetery, Olympia, NC 28560.
