Richard Spruill, a hydrogeology specialist at East Carolina University, will present a program on the characteristics and natural function of the Castle Hayne aquifer. The program will be presented at the N.C. Estuarium.

The program will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. There is a $2-per-person program fee. Call the Estuarium at 252-948-0000 to register.

This vital resource provides drinking water for many eastern North Carolina communities (including Washington). The aquifer is affected by a variety of industrial and other activities.
