Hugh Carr

Mr. Hugh Carr, age 82, a resident of 100 Cypress Lake Circle, Washington, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at his home.

A private service will be held for immediate family. The family will receive family and friends starting at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the home.

Mr. Carr was born in Danville, Va., on Oct. 22, 1929, to the late Victor H. Carr and Eliza Weddle Carr. He served his country in the United States Navy. In 1952, he married the former Zelda Potter, who survives. Mr. Carr was a retired program manager with Babcock & Wilcox having worked in Wilmington and Indonesia. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Zelda, Mr. Carr is survived by his children: Patrice Adele Carr of Wilmington, Seany Gail Greer and husband Anthony of Washington, and Victor Hugh Carr and wife Delinda of Clayton; two sisters, Inez Carr of Wilmington, and Virginia Melton of Asheville; and grandchildren, Wellington Earl Gray and Frank Anthony Talman both of Wilmington, Anthony Paul Greer II of Greensboro, Victor Hugh Carr II, and Brynn Elise Johnson and husband Austin all of Clayton.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Carr was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Sikes and Shirley Smith.
