Candidates for the N.C. General Assembly and Beaufort County Board of Commissioners have been invited to participate in a candidates’ forum organized by the Beaufort Patriot Tea Party.
The forum is slated to begin at 7 p.m. in the Building 8 auditorium on the Beaufort County Community College campus. The forum is open to the public, regardless of political affiliation.
Under the forum’s format, each candidate is allowed a two-minute introduction during the opening segment. In the second segment, each candidate is allowed three minutes to discuss three to five major issues he or she will face if elected and their positions on those issues. Following that segment, time permitting, questions submitted by audience members before the forum begins will be drawn at random. Those questions will be directed at candidates for answers.
The forum is slated to include candidates in the races for the 1st District seat in the state Senate, 3rd District seat on the state House, the 6th District seat in the state House and for the four available seats on the Board of Commissioners.
Candidates who choose to do so may submit position papers, which will be posted on the Beaufort Patriot Tea Party website.
Video of the candidates’ presentations will be posted on YouTube, according to a party document.
