SSgt. Linwood “Lee” Midgette Jr., 27, a native of Pantego and a resident of Alexandria, Va., died Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Tampa, Fla.
A graveside celebration of his life, with full military honors, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Davis Cemetery, Pantego, officiated by Eric Allen. The Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 U.S. Highway 264 East, Washington, and other times at the home.
Lee was born Feb. 18, 1985, in Beaufort County, son of Linwood Midgette Sr. and Agnes Manning Midgette. He graduated from Northside High School in 2003 and served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a non-commissioned officer in the grade of staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Lee was also a member of the Honor Guard.
In addition to his parents, Lee is survived by his sisters, Manda Lee Midgette Whitehurst and husband Alan of Greenville, Kacey ReAnn Midgette of Pantego and significant other Paul Wagner of Jamesville, and Kenzie Ryan Midgette and significant other Christopher Davis, both of Greenville; his nephew, Jackson Bray Midgette of Pantego; maternal grandmother, Jane Manning of Williamston; his uncles, Jeffrey Manning of Pantego, Richard Manning of Williamston, Alston Manning Jr. of Creswell; his great-uncle and aunt, Ronald and Linda Dunwiddie of Texas; Danny Allen Midgette of Alabama; his aunt, Carolyn Barnes of Kitty Hawk and his paternal grandmother, Sara Midgette of Roper.
