Sylvia Dawn Jennette Nichols, 69, a resident of Bath, died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Cross Creek Nursing Center in Swan Quarter.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Webster family cemetery, Free Union Road, Pinetown, conducted by the Rev. Tony Parrish.

Mrs. Nichols was born in Pantego on Jan. 27, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Mayhue Jennette and Louise Webster Jennette. Mrs. Nichols worked several jobs over the years including crab picker at Sea Safari. She was a member of the Belhaven Missionary Baptist Church.  In her spare time, Mrs. Nichols loved to read, do needle point, crochet, color in coloring books, and make Native American crafts.

Mrs. Nichols was married to Jim Lee Nichols, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1971. Later she married George Horn, who preceded her in death July 23, 1996.

Mrs. Nichols is survived by her sister, Lynn Sadler and husband Garry of Swan Quarter; two daughters, Rhonda Nichols Sawyer of Bath and Vanniesa Nichols Waters and husband Hilton of Bath; a son, Mayhue Nichols and wife Jennifer of Chocowinity; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by a sister, Eddilou Jennette.

The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Paul Funeral Home in Belhaven and other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Vanniesa and Hilton Waters, 233 Robert Jackson Road, Bath.
