Edwin “Earl” Woolard

Edwin Earl Woolard, 80, a resident of 736 Betsy Elbow Road, Washington, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, 2012, at Alligood Church of God, officiated by Phillip Jethro. Burial will be private in the Johnnie D. Woolard family cemetery.
Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on Feb. 20, 1932, son of the late Johnnie Darden Woolard and the late Hattie Mae Woolard. He was a graduate of Bath High School and on June 20, 1953, married the former Polly Gray, the love of his life, who survives. Mr. Woolard retired from National Spinning in 1997 and was a member of Alligood Church of God.
Surviving along with Mr. Woolard’s wife Polly of the home are two daughters, Cindy Woolard Alligood and her friend Bill Tipton and Amanda Woolard Wainwright and her husband William, all of Washington, and three grandchildren, who were Mr. Woolard’s pride and joy, Caleb Scott Alligood, Madison Gray Tyer and Tanner Earl Alligood. Mr. Woolard was predeceased by a brother, J.D. Woolard.
The family will receive friends following the service at Alligood Church of God and other times at the home of his daughter, Cindy Woolard Alligood, 664 Betsy Elbow Road, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for memorial contributions to be made to Alligood Church of God, 1891 Mill Hole Road, Washington, NC 27889.
