Jack Woods, maintenance caretaker at Pungo Village Apartments in Belhaven, was awarded the USDA Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of being named the North Carolina Area VI Maintenance Caretaker of the Year 2012. Each year, USDA-Rural Development recognizes a Maintenance Caretaker of the Year for the complexes in each of the seven area offices within North Carolina.
Pungo Village Apartments is an “elderly” designated apartment complex with a total of 38 units. Woods handles all maintenance needs and works diligently to improve the overall appearance and quality of the complex.
Kim Price, an area specialist with USDA-Rural Development, presented the award to Woods. The Area VI Multi-Family Housing Staff serves a 16-county area currently consisting of Beaufort, Bertie, Carteret, Chowan, Craven, Dare, Duplin, Hyde, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Tyrell and Washington. The Area VI office USDA-Rural Development is located in Kinston and services 74 Multi-Family Housing Complexes, 23 of which are classified as “Elderly Housing” apartment complexes.
