A Pickin’ good cause

The Washington Harbor District Alliance is the driving force behind a lot of the events we enjoy year-round here in Washington — Saturday markets every weekend and Music in the Streets on the third Friday from April to October, Art Walk four times a year, the Washington Marine Market in the spring, July 4th fireworks and Hometown Holidays at Christmas.
This year, you can add a Motown Review to the September calendar.
The WHDA works hard to fulfill its mission “to serve as a facilitator and catalyst to renew, restore, rebuild and revitalize the downtown business district, improve economic conditions, encourage tourism and preserve historical buildings and their significance.”
The signature fundraiser for the WHDA is Saturday’s Pickin’ on the Pamlico at Festival Park — an all-you-can-eat indulgence of fresh blue crabs, local shrimp, chicken, corn on the cob and baked potatoes prepared by Keyzer Catering. The Ginger Thompson Band returns to provide the entertainment.
Saturday’s Pickin’ on the Pamlico is an opportunity for residents and tourists to demonstrate their support for the WHDA while enjoying good food and music.
If you haven’t already purchased a ticket, contact the WHDA today to make sure you’re not left out of this worthy cause. It’s another one of the many events that make Washington great.
