Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

The City of Washington does not need to get re-involved with the Turnage Theater. Let’s not have a repeat of the Roanoke Rapids-Randy Parton theater fiasco. Washington has subsidized the Turnage financially in the past and it has still failed from bad management practices, unsustainable debt overhead and a narrow entertainment vision. The Turnage will not revitalize downtown. It is no longer the center of Washington business. Shopping centers, malls and WalMart have eliminated that. If Washington has money to throw around, there are a whole lot of other areas to put into instead of a theater with little benefit except to a select few.
