Mr. Druie Daniel “Pat” Winstead, Jr., age 78, a resident of 1101 Pinecrest Road, Bath died Tuesday evening Dec. 18, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, in the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington officiated by Rev. Curtis White.  A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elm City.
Mr. Winstead was born in Wilson County on Dec. 14, 1934, son of the late Druie Daniel Winstead, Sr. and Iva Hester Taylor Winstead.  He was a 1954 graduate of Elm City High School and received his pharmacy degree from UNC at Chapel Hill and was  a member of KAPPA PSI, a Pharmacy fraternity.  He worked with various pharmacies including Tom’s Drug Store in Wilmington, Tayloe Drug Store and Hospital Pharmacy in Washington, Rite Aide in Belhaven and retired with 27 years service from the former Beaufort County Hospital. Mr. Winstead was a member of the Bath Methodist Church where he was a trustee for 10 years and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
On July 1, 1955, he married the former Betty Jean Davis, who survives.
In addition to this wife, Jean of the home, he is survived by his daughter: Debra Winstead Ball of Morehead City; his son: Danny Winstead and wife, Cindy of Bath and his four grandchildren: Kreth Ball and Laura Ball of Raleigh, Iva Marie Winstead and Kelly Winstead of Bath; and his sister: Judy Murad of Greenville.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home.
