Marijuana, cocaine charges for couple

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit arrested a Washington couple on drug possession charges, according to a press release from the drug unit.
John Mitchell Bell III, 35, and Shelley Walker Bell, 33, both of 26 Edgewater Beach Road in Washington were arrested on Feb. 1 and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the press release, investigators had received complaints that drug activity was occurring at the Bell residence and when investigators went by the residence and made contact with the couple, they smelled an odor of marijuana inside the house. A search of the house turned up marijuana, marijuana-smoking pipes, a marijuana grinder, digital scales, a glass mirror containing cocaine residue and a snorting straw containing cocaine residue, said the release.
Both were detained in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond. According to a spokesman for the drug unit, John Bell has had previous drug charges.
