CHOCOWINITY– Senator Bill Cook visited Southside High School on Jan. 25 to visit with administration, faculty, staff and students.

Senator Cook visited the classrooms of Lisa Johnson, Karen Cabaniss, Raven Wilkin and Debbie Clark.  He observed interactions between students and teachers as well as the use of technology in the classrooms. In Clark’s class, he was able to get students’ perspectives on the opportunities available to them through online classes.

Senator Cook also met with SHS principal Rick Anderson to discuss school security and safety, merit pay and other topics related to education.

Anderson said, “I appreciate that Senator Cook took the time to meet with us at the school level and see the positive things going on in education today.”
